HUNG SHUI KIU EFFLUENT
POLISHING PLANT PHASE 1

Project Background

Hung Shui Kiu Effluent Polishing Plant (HSKEPP), is located in the north-western side of the Hung Shui Kiu / Ha Tsuen New Development Area (HSK/HT NDA). HSKEPP is designed to have a treatment capacity of 90 000 m3 per day with secondary plus treatment level. It is an essential sewage infrastructure to provide reliable, adequate and quality sewage treatment and sewage effluent disposal for the sewage collected from the new developments within the HSK/HT NDA and other developments in the North West New Territories (NWNT).

Project Scope

The scope of works under the HSKEPP Project are listed below:

  • demolition of decommissioned San Wai preliminary treatment works in order to release the land for construction of HSKEPP;
  • construction of a new secondary plus effluent polishing plant with a maximum capacity of 90,000 m3 /day; 
  • construction of on-site sludge treatment facility at the HSKEPP for treatment of all sludge generated from HSKEPP and part of sludge from adjacent STWs, and provide allowance for receiving and co-digesting with pre-treated food/organic waste; 
  • associated architectural and landscaping works; 
  • implementation of environmental mitigation measures; and ancillary works.
